Developing the “E-Series II”
Soprano Saxophones

The “E-Series II” Kenny G Soprano Saxophone revolutionize
the harmonic key concept & design.

I would like to talk a little bout the development of the “E-Series II” Saxophones and I will start with the KGSS-II Soprano Saxophones. Kenny and I have spent many hours talking about what he liked and did not like about the Original “E-Series” and “G-Series” sopranos.

*He Liked the hand position and the way the keys felt on the Original “G-Series” best. *He wanted the saxophones to be the best possible price so anyone could afford one of his saxophones.

*He liked the palm key design of the Original “E-Series” sopranos.

*He wanted to be able to use his original mouthpiece and the Original “E-Series” and “G-Series” sopranos were designed to be played with a short shank mouthpiece.

So we set out to develop the NEW "E-Series II" Saxophones.

The NEW “E-Series II” Soprano Saxophones.

Both of the original “E-Series” & “G-Series” Soprano Saxophones are very good saxophones. They were designed as I mentioned to play best with a short shank mouthpiece. The bore design was patterned after a vintage soprano and the tone color of these instruments is exceptional.
So when I started to design the new sopranos I decided on several things.

Bore Design:
*First to copy the bore of the soprano Kenny plays very closely. I made only a few minor adjustments to the one hole placement to improve the intonation and response. These slight adjustments in the bore now allows the instrument to have better intonation with either the short shank or the new very long soprano mouthpieces. The NEW “E-Series II” Soprano are slightly shorter then the original soprano with a completely different bore design.
** You can see this in the photograph below.

Key Design:
*For the key design I decided to combine the good features of the two original sopranos. I took the upper stack and key work design from the original “G-Series” making the soprano feel more like a professional soprano. I used the palm key design from the original “E-Series” as it is a modern design making it easier to switch between alto and soprano or tenor and soprano.

Soprano Range:
*We kept the range to high G.

Harmonic Key:
The NEW “E-Series II” Kenny G Soprano Saxophone revolutionize
the harmonic key concept & design.

Case:
*Used the same very good Cordura case that has a lot of room inside with both a shoulder and back pack straps.

Available Finishes:
*We chose a new Dark Lacquer Finish that is very rich in color and resembles the great vintage sopranos from years gone by.....
The Black Nickel Body w/ Silver Plated Keys and the Silver Plated Body & Keys sopranos feature the NEW EZCareTM Tarnish Resistant Silver Plating. This new plating process helps the silver remain new looking much longer than the traditional silver plating of the past.

Now we have what I believe to be the parts best of all three sopranos in the NEW ‘E-Series II” soprano saxophone. The soprano Kenny plays (Bore Design), the “Original “E-Series” (Palm Key Design) and Original “G-Series" (Fingerboard) Saxophones. The tone color of this saxophone is great, intonation is excellent and it will allow any saxophonist to create the personal sound they want and need to compete in the music world today.

In short .... Kenny & I believe the NEW “E-Series II” soprano to be the best soprano on the market today. It has many of the features of the Original "G-Series" soprano at the "E-Series" price.

*I would just like to say that purchasing a Kenny G "E-Series II" or G-Series II" soprano saxophone will in no way guarantee that you will sound like Kenny. These instruments are a direct copy of the bore of the soprano Kenny plays but as you all know each saxophonist produces an original tone. This is the beauty of the saxophone.

Kenny has a very unique sound on the soprano saxophone and most of that is due to the way he plays and his talent. I believe the Kenny G Soprano saxophones to be the best sopranos on the market today and would give you the best shot at sounding like Kenny. Keep in mind that he still practices at least two hours a day even with his busy schedule. Dedication and practice are the tools to a great sound. I am sure you will love and enjoy playing these sopranos.
